    60 Alfred Schembri

    60. Inside out Heart ornament

This is an ornament that is called inside out because it is made in two different setups. Two identical pieces of wood are temporarily glued and the heart is turned. The wood is then split at the glue joint and each piece is rotated 180 degrees and permanently glued. The rest of the ornament is now turned including the candle holder. Several colors of acrylic are airbrushed. I think that the golden heart is very appropriate for this year, considering what the world is going through.

      Alan,

Excited to enter my craft item this year contest. I have been a subscriber to you and Carl for quite some time. I do woodcarving. I wanted to enter a carving of snowman.
This item is made of basswood. Overall size is 2″dia x 5″ long. Painted with acrylic paint and distressed with antiquing paint. Item is turned partially on lathe and then hand carved.

      Best Regards
      Tom

Carl Jacobson has not mentioned this a single time in the past 2 weeks?? Just wondering if he is still involved.

    23. Walter T says:

Hi Alan. I just want to clarify the process if I wish to enter more than one ornament. Do I upload all of the ornament pictures to Dropbox in one batch? If so, how will you know which picture is for which entry? Or do we do this one ornament at a time, with separate write-up and separate Dropbox upload? (I suspect the latter.)

    24. Seth Miller says:

Is there a link to view this year’s submissions?

    25. Warnie Lore says:

      Hi
I’m Andy I’ve been wood turning at an beginner level for about ten years on and off I find turning on the lathe therapeutic and relaxing when I saw your competition on you tube I had just turned my first two tone snowman and thought what the heck I’m going to submit this in your competition.

      Kind Regards

    30. Carolyn says:

It was so hard to choose only 5 ornaments. So many of them were an inspiration to this newish turner.
      Here are my picks:
      2, 8, 22, 27, 44

    31. Jenny Bauschard says:

      I’m voting for #’s 22, 47, 43, 19, 52

      2019 Christmas ornament challenge vote:
      22, 23, 48, 27, 52

    33. Garry Elfstrand says:

      OK, here are my votes. #48 #33 #23 #11 #28
This was a very difficult decision. In the future would it be possible to include the category that the ornaments have been entered in? I tried to pick from each of the groups by guessing but it’s very difficult to distinguish which category those in what I would call the “middle” groups can overlap a lot. Just my two cents.

    34. Robert trimmell says:

23,22,52,46,40. What a challenge for all
