Woodturning Inside-Out Ornament For Charity
This ornament is for a charity fund-raising event. It is twice turned: once or the inside profile; and again after reversing the staves for the outside profile. Although the inside could be hollowed, the inside out process produces windows into the interior of the ornament. In this case, four windows since I used four square staves. In the past, I have also used 3 staves for three windows. Six windows are also possible.
The wood for the body is maple; the Christmas tree is an unknown dark wood. All pieces are finished with shellac. This is nine inches tall and about 2 inches diameter.
My double stick tape did not hold the staves against the pressure of the live center point. Adding a thin scrap to both ends saved the day.
I love it.
Enjoy.
If you happen to have technical difficulties, this video is also posted on YouTube. But it is best right here. So stick around.
